The Friendship Verdict
While both are reptiles, they have very different environmental needs (humidity, temperature gradients). Large tortoises can accidentally crush smaller dragons, and they may pass pathogens like Coccidia to each other.
The Best Way to Meet
Never rush an introduction! To help your Bearded Dragon and Tortoise become friends (or at least share a room safely), follow these simple steps:
-
1Quarantine both for 90 days before any meeting.
-
2Supervised outdoor "sun time" only.
-
3Never house in the same indoor enclosure.
🚨 Signs of Trouble
If you see any of these behaviors while your pets are near each other, separate them immediately.
Bearded dragon black-bearding.
